Today, Wednesday January 2nd, 2013 (which still deserves a loud : HAPPY NEW YEAR !), the key word was “Transition”. Transition contexts in all of our countries was discussed the whole morning, and everybody took a great pleasure in presenting democratic and citizenship challenges in both sides of the Mediterranean, and how civil society and movements were facing it. It was indeed interesting to see taht we actually share common concerns within our although different environments. A special attention was put on the Egyptian recent uprising, through the testimonies of the Egyptian participants.

Testimonies from the people who actually took part in the revolution was a valuable experience, and we could really feel the emotion that invaded the room when a short movie was released.
Afterwards, we had a nice lunch on the sunny balcony while some of us tried some kasab ( sugarcanne juice). After the lunch, the participants had the opportunity to visit the , great Bibliotheca Alexandrina with multimedial books, ordinary books and very old manuscript.
After the visit, we divided into groups for a one-hour question-answers game about the morning’s session. We made afterwards a funny game that gave us a lot of energy for continuing the afternoon. The rest of the day was focused on the notion of participation, which appeared clear on first sight for all of us, but then became more complicated after trying to define what it really was.
We ended up this tiring but enriching day with a diner at the restaurant we had already been the night before, enjoying varied pieces of pizzas, lemon juice and sugar pie.
I’m not sure if it was the energizer or the kasab that made me being so awake in the evening,
I feel that my blood is transcending into sugar cane juice and I have to look for possibilities to cultivate it in Northern Germany…
